Zoom said its new iOS mobile browser client beta release is designed to enable its customer’s HIPAA compliance programs, as well as make it easier for patients on Apple devices to connect with health providers over Zoom. Patients can join telehealth appointments directly from their mobile browser without downloading an app. Patients receive a Zoom meeting link from their provider via email or text, and can just click the link to launch the session when it’s time for their appointment....

Ransomware has become a major cybersecurity issue, as cyber criminals infiltrate networks and encrypt servers and files before demanding a ransom payment – often amounting to millions of dollars in cryptocurrencies – in exchange for the decryption key. In a significant number of cases, the victim will give in to the demands and pay the ransom. This might be because they don’t have back-ups, because the criminals threaten to leak stolen data if they’re not paid, or simply because the victim perceives paying to the ransom be the quickest means of restoring the network....

According to the South Korean tech giant, the 12nm 16Gb DDR5 DRAM has been verified with CPU maker AMD, with mass production slated to begin next year. What is unusual about Samsung’s announcement is that it gave a specific numerical value of the process node it used __ in this case “12”. Memory chipmakers, which includes SK Hynix and Micron, had mostly used the term “10nm class” or their own jargon for their process nodes ranging from 10 to 19nm in size without actually specifying their numerical value of the second digit....

I always thought the large 12.9-inch Apple iPad was too much for a tablet, but after owning one now for a few months, I’ve found that it’s fantastic for getting work done on the go. The pair’s collaboration began earlier this year and the multi-year contract is worth over $1 billion, the South Korean tech giant said in a statement sent to ZDNet. It must have been at least two decades ago now when I attended a media briefing, during which an executive was demonstrating the company’s latest speech recognition software. As most demos went, no matter how much you prepared for it, things would go desperately wrong, including this particular one. The executive’s voice-directed commands often were wrongly executed and several spoken words in every sentence were inaccurately translated into text. The harder she tried, the more things went wrong, and by the end of the demo, she looked clearly flustered....

Called Projected Guardian, the initiative would see the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) collaborate with industry players to explore the “economic potential” of asset tokenisation, the industry regulator said Tuesday. By digitally representing assets or items of value through blockchain-powered smart contracts, tokenisation enabled high-value financial and real economy assets to be fractionalised and exchanged online, on a peer-to-peer basis. MAS noted that applying this to financial services such as borrowing, lending, and trading would allow these transactions to be performed autonomously, bypassing the need for intermediaries....
